Computing Devices Canada Limited

Computing Devices Canada had 500 software engineers both in Ottawa and Calgary with an eight billion dollar contract to build a communications system for Canadian Army. CDC realized profit would come from reengineering processes within this large contract. The Reengineering team consisted of senior managers from Ottawa and Calgary. They investigated Turbo brainstorming and process mapping. Turbo brainstorming enabled them to uncover 130 opportunities including implementing Turbo Brainstorming across the company within a six month project.

Canada Safeway

Canada Safeway system was selected as the standard system for implementation across all Safeway stores across North America because of all internal systems it was the only one designed for multiple regions. Canadian managers credited turbo brainstorming for their ability to mobilizes teams to successful undertake the conversion. They conducted many in house Systems Analysis courses containing the TBS method.


Many projects including a review of ICBC's Project Management Centre. Recommendation was to maintain the current system. Another project was to develop a data dictionary desicribing compontents in IMS databases and end user applications. ISP also provided training in Timeline planning software.


At BC Telephone and later Telus,  ISP expedited many meetings and projects using Turbo brainstorming.

Digital Equipment Corporation

We organized a brainstorming session on how to improve business in BC with 75 employees on Grouse Mountain. We divided the group into five teams. Each team brainstormed how can we improve business in BC. Each team reviewed and voted on the other teams suggestions. We included a volunteer sign sheet for each suggestion. Management had a list of volunteers to brainstorm each suggestion. At the end of six months, Digital had implemented sixty percent of the suggestions.

CIPS education session

ISP provided facilitation for a major CIPS initiative to develop education programs for IT executives who needed skills upgrading. 

ISP also provided numerous education sessions to CIPS on turbo brainstorming included a joint meeting with PMI.

Trans Canada Pipeline

Brian Mullen conducted a two day Reengineering course for a 15 person reengineering team at Trans Canada Pipelines. Their objective was to develop recommendations to reengineer the Capital Budgeting system.

Within two days we created a shared vision of the deliverables. We conducted an impromptu management review with the general manager.

Alberta Natural Gas
